Turkeys, Donuts, and Coffee.
We left Davis at dark-thirty AM. Listening to pop and hiphop, bouncing, and absolutely coffee-hyper the whole time.
Things we learned:
– Krispy Kreme has 24-hour drive-thru donut windows.
– We really don’t want to know what’s happening in the car ahead of us. The one with the foggy windows that can’t seem to stay in its own lane.
– It’s about 29 degrees Fahrenheit at 3:30 AM outside Kettleman City. On the I-5.
– There are lots of elderly male truckers out there.
– There’s a beautiful gas station next to the Krispy Kreme somewhere near Lodi. Right off the I-5.
– Baby Got Back is a really strange song when sung at full power at 2:46 AM
– We like clean restrooms.
– Don’t let us clean your windshield when it’s freezing outside.
– Mmmmmm peppermint mocha from Starbucks drive-thru!
– It’s 2 in the morning. Do you know where your speedometer is hovering?
Arrived at 7 AM. Surprised parents. Adopted into families of fellow passengers. Much hugging.
So my day started at 7:30 AM on Tuesday and ended at about 10 PM on Wednesday. 38.5 hours without sleep! Woohoo!
And I’m home and tired and stuffed with turkey and other good stuff. So I think I’ll sleep soon. Thanksgiving is fun.
