Status of my schoolings…

Bottom line, I can theoretically walk in the June ceremony and get my diploma after Summer Sessions. In fact, that’s likely how it’ll work. I just need to be very careful and very precise.

By the end of spring quarter ’06, I’ll have 59 upper-division units completed – meaning that I’ll have 5 to go, and that I can finish them during summer. I will also be lacking just one or two NAC electives.

I can graduate on a technicality. Which is absolutely awesomely amusing to me… see, in the UCD General Catalog that was in effect when I entered as a freshman (the 2001-2002 edition), the core classes were listed as being 16 units (NAC 1, 100, and 180). The required electives were then listed as being a mere 16-20 units instead of the 20-unit minimum. Normally this kind of error would be fixed in the Addendum, but for some reason, it wasn’t. Technically I can challenge the current limits on the basis of that catalog misprint and graduate with a whole 4 fewer units of required electives. Take that, bureaucratic BS! HAHAHA!

I don’t think I will, but it’s cool to have that option. I would love to be able to say that I graduated on a technicality.

Unless some divine lightning bolt comes to strike me down, I’ll be done with my bachelor’s degree without taking a full extra quarter. This gives me a bit of flexibility for finding a job in fall/winter. Yay!
