No, this isn’t a triumphant Job of My Dreams post … while I’m not dismissing the possibility of such a post at an unspecified future time, this isn’t it.

I’m heading to Boston next week. There are many things I’d like to do, and this is really the first totally selfish trip of my adulthood. At least, it’s the first that hasn’t been partly subsidized by 4-H or academia or music… or close family, for that matter. It’s a bit daunting, but I’m looking forward to it for that very reason. Mostly I’m treating it as a sort of touchstone, stepping stone, threshold – after this it’s really the end of summer and I’ll have no further excuses to delay the coming of a fresh autumn. I like autumn and spring – the transitional seasons.
